May 4, 2015
Attendees of the 12th Annual Alabama Giving Grantmaker Workshop were honored and inspired to hear from Alabama education leaders as they spoke on topics ranging from Pre-K programs to the economic potential found in our community college system. The Alabama philanthropic community recognizes the importance and value of qulality education and was excited to hear about the strides being made in our state!

We appreciated the opportunity to learn more about the work that Dr. Tommy Bice, Alabama's State Superintendent of Education, has put into the development of PLAN 2020. Aiming to ensure that "every child is a graduate, and every graduate is prepared," PLAN 2020 promotes a thriving "eco-system" between learners, school and support systems, and professionals in order to improve student growth, achievement, graduation rates, and increase the number of students that are college- and career-ready.
Below, you will find a link for the PowerPoint Dr. Bice used at our workshop!

Dr. Mark Heinrich, Chancellor of the Alabama Community College System, described the economic potential in a well-trained and well-educated workforce. Heinrich is committed to improving affordability, student success, and professional and leadership development in the community college sytem.
